SprintSuite

Interviewee: Fredy Galindo, Director & Co-Founder
Industry: Maintenance and Engineering Management
Company size: National reach
Solution focus: Integrated business management platform
Product: SprintSuite integrated field service platform

Like many of the best ideas, SprintSuite was born to solve a problem. Founders Fredy Galindo and Sandra Harris tested the market for platform-based products to simplify the management of their industrial engineering and mining services company. But none were quite right without changing their business model to suit. So they invented their own, calling it SprintSuite.

Fast-forward a few years, and the market demand was growing for an integrated service platform. SprintSuite’s founders knew they had a quality product that would only become more popular as digitisation expanded, but the road to today’s SprintSuite has had its share of bumps and curves.

Today, SprintSuite is a customisable integrated field service and business management platform for maintenance and engineering industries. SprintSuite provides flexible project, job, people and asset management features. It also enables fast and simple digital pre-start and timesheet management, scheduling and mobilisation, procurement and health, safety and compliance. And there’s room for more integrations in the future.

Development Challenges

It’s so true that behind every ‘overnight success’ story lies a long road of learning and persistence. With backgrounds in mining engineering and digital marketing, Fredy and Sandra initially outsourced the development work for their ideal platform to overseas developers. But not being developers themselves, this proved problematic in many ways, including communication, quality control and support. Also, they didn’t have any kind of benchmark to determine the robustness of the resulting product - whether it would be reliable and scalable over the long term.

Somewhat frustrated, and not 100% confident about expanding on a product that might not stand up to future performance demands, Fredy and Sandra decided to reach out to their networks for a workable Australian solution.

It’s not what you know, it’s who you know

As often happens, a colleague suggested talking with Jake Webber about the services Webbernet supplies. In just one conversation, Fredy felt they could be a great fit. As Fredy says, “He understood the problems we were facing and even provided solutions straight away, on that initial call, without any commitment from us”.

Jake’s not your everyday developer. He also understands company processes from his personal business experiences, and that makes the difference.

Webbernet hits the ground running

The Webbernet team firstly undertook a complete audit of the SprintSuite product and the software build as well as the company’s goals and priorities, people, risks, resources and business model.

Using the holistic understanding gained from the audit and starting to build relationships with Sprintsuite’s team, Webbernet presented several recommendations going forward. Once SprintSuite decided on the direction, things moved steadily forward, starting by focusing on building a continuous integration (CI) platform that would allow SprintSuite to release changes to their customers more rapidly. Gaining momentum, the development team, working closely with SprintSuite, made sure everything and everyone was in place properly before they collectively got started with the project.

Webbernet is very flexible in using a management framework that suits the client. In SprintSuite’s case, the client chose to outsource the recruitment of the right types of specialist developers completely to Webbernet, leaving just one internal developer, but training more staff to be able to deploy changes to the application when required.

With reliable, scalable foundations in place, Webbernet then designed and set up a full process system for the development and support of the SprintSuite platform and integrations, from start to finish, including advice on human resources and rollout of new products.

The results

SprintSuite’s fully updated and flexible platform was re-launched in 2021 – just in time to catch the growing post-pandemic wave of demand for mobile digital integrated platforms for field service that include smarter, faster ways to work with live data and business process automations for business management.

From early on, SprintSuite noticed the higher quality of work that resulted in a system with fewer bugs and more robust structures. Rather than days mostly filled with troubleshooting, the SprintSuite team could turn their attention to rolling out new integrations and features with renewed confidence. Fredy particularly appreciates the benefit of having the development team on call as needed.

The structure Webbernet put in place for SprintSuite enables us, as a tech start-up, to easily dial development resources up and down, saving us from overheads that might make or break our bottom line.

With the confidence of a quality product and reliable support that allows movement in multiple directions, SprintSuite has a roadmap to growth with the right market fit. Clients often suggest improvements and now there’s every possibility of adding those features and benefits.

The most valuable thing about the SprintSuite and Webbernet relationship has been gaining peace of mind. Things are ‘done right’ and we can focus on the future.
